Treatment approach
Dr. Cassius strives to give each patient the individualized care they need, taking a wholistic perspective and utilizing the most advanced and state of the art diagnostic and treatment techniques.  He is one of the world leaders in the development and use of Segmental Neuromyotherapy for the diagnosis and treatment of all types of painful conditions.  He succsessfully treats professional athletes as well as medically complicated patients with chronic debilitating pain.

First, a careful history will be taken, then a detailed physical exam will be performed.  Then, Dr. Cassius will discuss treatment options which may include more diagnostic studies.  All questions will be answered, and then an individual treatment plan will be developed.
Dr. Cassius works closely with other health care professionals including:
- physical therapists
- chiropractors
- massage therapists
- accupuncturists
- podiatrists
- primary care physicians

He performs:
- complete neuromusculoskeletal evaluations
- injections for nerve and muscle block
- trigger point injections
- Botox injections for relief of pain and spasticity
- electromyographic studies
- second opinions for possibly avoiding surgery

History
After finishing his residency training at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Cassius was asked to join the staff of the prestigious Cleveland Clinic.  He practiced there for a few years and was then recruited to Seattle by Virginia Mason Medical Center.  He began his private practice seven years ago to better control all aspects of his patients' care and devote more time to lecturing and research about Segmental Neuromyotherapy.

Dr. Cassius has trained extensively with Andrew Fischer, MD, PhD.  Together, and with Marta Imamura, MD, PhD, they developed the technique of Segmental Neuromyotherapy over ten years ago.  This technique of diagnosis and treatment is based on the concept of spinal segmental sensitization, which is an upregulation of specific areas in the spinal cord in response to noxious stimuli.  By identifying areas of sensitization and then removing them, pain can be eliminated.  He has been asked to present and lecture on this technique both throughout the USA and internationally, including Europe, Israel, South and Central America, China, Japan, and Korea.
